Area high school football player of the year nominees

Six area high school football players have been selected as player of the year candidate. You can vote in the Register and online soon.

Voting will end on Nov 22.

The high school football season in the area has come to a close. Soon we will be asking you to vote for area player of the year.

We have compiled stats from across the area and have six options.

The all-area team and offensive and defensive players of the year will be announced soon also.

Crest High School running back Holden Barker:

2,071 yards rushing, 36 TDs, 67 tackles, two sacks.

Iola High School guard/linebacker Tyler Boeken:

102 tackles, eight and a half tackles for loss.

Yates Center High School linebacker Shane Weber:

52 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, four sacks.

Humboldt High School quarterback/defensive back Gavin Page:

54 completions, 879 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, 1,008 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns.

Marmaton Valley High School wide receiver/defensive back Jaedon Granere:

36 receptions, 636 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns, 387 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 26 tackles, 4 interceptions.

Humboldt High School’s Trey Sommer:

1,097 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 9 receptions, 200 receiving yards, 82 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions.

You will find your ballot in the Saturday paper. You can fill it out and return it to the Register or vote online.
