Another exciting weekend of action around the Allen County area has concluded, leaving fans with one question: Who is the Player of the Week?

Player of the Week

Humboldt RB Trey Sommer

Sommer was a great compliment to quarterback Gavin Page for Humboldt as they moved to 4-1 and 3-0 on the road so far this season. Sommer’s contributions didn’t end at running back, as Sommer made plays receiving and on defense to help the Cubs roll to another win. Sommer’s final line is a fun one to read.

Final Line: 122 yds, 9.4 yards per carry, 2 TDs, 2 receptions, 52 yds, defensive interception vs West Franklin

Quarterback of the Week

Humboldt QB Gavin Page

Page was stellar Friday in Humboldt’s 50-7 triumph over West Franklin. With the win, the Cubs move to 4-1. Page put in work all over the field. At quarterback, Page threw for 166 yards, and gained 23.7 yards per completion, while rushing for 84 more, accounting for four total scores.

Final Line: 7-14, 166 yds, 3 TDs, 84 yds rushing, rushing TD vs West Franklin

Running Back of the Week

Crest RB Holden Barker

In a 50-14 loss to Waverly, Barker added to his mammoth rushing total on the season and now sits at 1,267 on the year to go with a staggering 21 touchdowns. Barker’s plethora of stops showcases his talents, despite the loss.

Final Line: 98 yds rushing, 2 TDs, 3.9 yards per carry, 6 tackles, 1 reception, 8 yds, 6 tackles vs Waverly

Wide Receiver of the Week

Iola WR T.J. Taylor

Taylor was the favorite target of Iola quarterback Landon Weide in the Mustangs’ 34-7 win over Anderson County. Taylor put in an impressive performance on both sides of the ball, also contributing two tackles to go along with 37.2 yards per catch.

Final Line: 5 receptions, 186 yds, 2 TDs, 37.2 yards per catch, 2 tackles vs Anderson County..

Defensive Standout of the Week:

Yates Center LB Shane Weber

Yates Center dominated Cedar Vale-Dexter to the tune of a 62-0 win to move to 5-0 on the season. Weber was a key on defense as he filled the stat sheet all over the defense, forcing two turnovers and harassing the Cedar Vale backfield.

Final Line: 8 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery vs Cedar Vale-Dexter

Honorable Mentions:

Iola QB Landon Weide: 14-24, 271 yds, 2 TDs, interception, 11 yds rushing vs Anderson County
