For just the second time this season, the Crest Lancers won back-to-back games after getting a 43-40 win over Southeast-Cherokee on Tuesday.
The win moves the Lancers up to 7-10 overall and 5-4 in Three Rivers League play.
Crest led 9-3 out of the game but Southeast cut that lead down to just two at the half thanks to a 12-8 second quarter. Coming out of the half, the Lancers stretched their lead to double digits after a 14-6 third quarter gave them a 10-point advantage. They then had to hold on tight in the fourth as Southeast trimmed the lead down to three before running out of time.
“This was a good road win for us,” head coach Travis Hermreck said. “It was one of those ‘grind it out’ games.  They shot the ball poorly and we turned it over a lot.  Both teams defended pretty well.  It was good to see our boys compete for 32 minutes.”
Junior Hayden Hermreck (17 points, 11 rebounds) and senior Hayden Seabolt (14 points, 13 rebounds) each walked away with double-doubles.
The Lady Lancers lost 51-36. No other individual stats were available.
The Lancers will be back in action at home tonight versus Jayhawk-Linn.
“They are big and physical,” Hermreck said. “We had better be ready to get back in the trenches and go to work.”
