UNIONTOWN — The Crest High basketball teams swept a pair of road contests at Uniontown on Tuesday.
The Lancers (12-6) played dominant defense from the start after shutting out Uniontown in the first quarter and secured a 47-35 victory. The Lady Lancers (8-10) held off a late game comeback from the Eagles in a 48-38 win.
Lady Lancers
Crest was led early by a Cursten Allen three and Haylee Beckmon’s layup and free throw to put the Lady Lancers ahead at the end of the first, 10-8.
The Lady Lancers picked up their defense in the second quarter when they held the Eagles to only five points, all coming from Brooklyn Dreisbach. She went for a couple of layups and a free throw but Crest still hung on.
Aylee Beckmon led Crest in the second with a pair of two-point baskets. The Lady Lancers led Uniontown at halftime, 20-13.
Crest stretched their lead to 15 points by the end of the third quarter behind Kayla Hermreck’s six points and A. Beckmon’s five points including a three-point knockdown. Crest led Uniontown heading to the third quarter, 33-18.
Uniontown made one final push in the fourth quarter when they outscored Crest, 20-15. Reese Gorman led the charge, netting a couple three’s and a layup while Rylee Coulter and Addisyn Hall each scored five points but it wasn’t enough to come back.
The Lady Lancers were fouled all through the fourth quarter and knocked down a total of 11 free throws, led by A. Beckmon’s six free throws. Crest held on for the 10-point win, 48-38.
A. Beckmon led Crest’s offense with 17 points while H. Beckmon and Hermreck each bucketed nine points and Kinley Edgerton went for eight.

Lancers
Crest’s defense shut out Uniontown while the Lancers went for four points in the first quarter. Uniontown then came out of nowhere to outscore Crest 16-9 in the second quarter to take the lead.
Joey Marlow led the Eagles attack with seven points while Colter Powell added five points in the second as well. Crest was led by a Karter Miller three in the second quarter but the Lancers trailed Uniontown at halftime, 16-13.
Inconsistency ultimately plagued Uniontown as the Eagles scored only nine points in each of the final two quarters, led by Powell’s nine points.
