The eighth-grade Ponies were unable to repeat their success from last week at Prairie View on Monday afternoon.

The A team went 25-20, 10-25, 11-25, and 8-25. Despite the loss, head coach Terri Carlin found a lot of positives in the girls’ play. Carlin praised the girls’ communication throughout the match, along with the precipice passing in the first set. Unfortunately, Iola was unable to duplicate that passing effort in the following sets.

Rio Lohman provided Iola with a presence at the net with five kills, along with an ace. Piper Aronson served nine straight in the first set to propel the Ponies to the set win. Jackie Fager chipped in two kills and two assists, and Piper Aronson provided two kills and two aces.

The B bombers were able to scrape together a victory. In the four sets played, Iola won three by scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-20. Jaiden Emmons led with five aces, and she was complemented by Rylie Olson who accumulated three aces and three kills.

Iola has come a long way this season. In the beginning of the year, the Ponies were having a hard time scoring. But now, the attention has turned to winning matches.

The Ponies have the rest of the week off before they are back in action on Saturday at home.
