Eighth grade Ponies get wins at Prairie View

The Iola Middle School volleyball team traveled to Prairie View Monday and the eighth-grade A and B teams both walked away with wins.
The A-team won in five-sets (25-14, 25-27, 21-25, 25-16 and 15-9).
“We came out fired up and ready to play,” head coach Terri Carlin said. “We had beat them on Saturday and were looking for another win tonight. This was a good match for us. We had to fight back to win the set and the girls stayed strong and never gave up,”
Dallyn McGraw had five aces and four kills and Caiden Cloud had three aces, a kill and two assists. Aysta Houk had an ace and four kills, Louise Caron had an ace and three kills, Cali Riley had an ace, Celina Caron had a kill, an ace and an assist.
The B-Team won in four sets (25-20, 25-11, 24-26 and 25-20).
Cloud and Abi Hurt each had 10 aces. Cloud also had a kill and five assists.
“Caiden is one of our most consistent players,” Carlin said. “She just always seems to be in the right place at the right time to get a pass, tip at the net, or make a great play to save the ball.”
Macie Hoag had five aces and four assists, Elsie Fleming had two aces and a kill and Madison Robertson had two aces and a kill.
Louise Caron had three kills and Jadyn Kaufman and Celina Caron had two kills each.
The Pony A-Team also competed in a tournament in Burlington on Saturday.
The Ponies won one out of three games.
Iola started off with Chanute and lost in four sets (13-25, 14-25, 25-15 and 12-25).
Riley had an ace and three kills, McGraw had an ace and two kills, Kaufman and Houk each had two kills, Celina Caron had three assists and Cloud had one assist.
The Ponies then took on Burlington and fell in three sets (10-25, 10-25 and 15-25).
McGraw had two aces and two kills, Houk and an ace and a kill, Riley had an ace and an assist. Kaufman had two kills, Caron had a kill and an assist and Cloud had an assist.
Lastly, the Ponies beat Prairie View in a four-set match (24-26, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-20).
Houk had five kills and four aces. McGraw had five aces and a kill, Cloud had three aces and two assists, Riley had an ace, a kill and an assist and Celina Caron had an assist.
The Ponies will travel to Burlington on Thursday.
