ROSALIA — The Yates Center Wildcats were eliminated from the postseason following Thursday’s 71-42 loss to Flinthills.

The Wildcats climbed within a point of the Flinthills Mustangs but that was as close to victory as they would get. Flinthills scored 36-unanswered points for the win and dropped Yates Center to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in district play.

Although Flinthills doubled Yates Center’s offensive production by the final whistle, the Wildcats held their own until the third quarter. A four-touchdown performance from sophomore quarterback Gavin Busteed kept Yates Center in contention.

Multiple offensive and defensive miscues in the late third and fourth quarters allowed Flinthills to pull away and secure the final postseason spot in Kansas Eight-man Division II District II.

Due to Yates Center scheduling their contest ahead of Friday’s weather, they must wait until the conclusion of the regularly scheduled games to find out who they face in next week’s non-bracket games.
