Hello! My name is...
Three weeks ago I embarked on my journey to Iola for an interview with The Register. The day before my journey I had finally earned my degree from Beloit College on the border between Wisconsin in Illinois. So it’s safe to say I was hungry for work.
I was asked to take a slight detour on my 20-plus hour journey home to San Antonio, Texas. I had never been to Kansas much less Iola and I definitely had no clue I was driving through what would turn out to be one of the harshest storms in years for the area!
As I got closer and closer to Iola, the rain came down harder and harder. My windshield was literally white and nearly impossible to see out of. I was supposed to spend the night in Chanute, but the detours were a challenge. Luckily enough, Mrs. Susan Lynn, Register publisher, provided me a place for the night which led to a job interview over a bowl of chicken stew and rosemary sourdough bread.

The following day I got to meet the entire staff and immediately felt that I was at home. From the newest of equipment in the newsroom to the kindness of the staff, I knew that The Iola Register was the place for me.
I am looking forward to entrenching myself in the community and getting to know as many of the athletes, parents, and coaches as possible on a personal level. And most importantly telling the stories of the residents in Allen County!
In my “heydays” in college I played quarterback. So safe to say I understand the frustrations and jubilations that will come with sports. Sports are my passion. And from what I hear about the area, it is a big component that helps keep the clock ticking in Allen County. So I think you all and myself are going to click exceptionally well.
My goal for the future and for every Register subscriber is to give you the most coverage I can. Everyone in the world of sports has a story to tell, and I can’t wait to try to fulfill that goal day in and day out. Thank you Iola for the warm welcome! I’m ready to embark on this new chapter along with all of the residents in Allen County.
