Humboldt’s Manbeck signs to play at Ottawa

OTTAWA — Jake Manbeck, Humboldt High senior, signed a national letter of intent last week to play football for Ottawa University.
Manbeck, an offensive and defensive lineman, was a four-year letterman football.  On the football field Manbeck was a three-time All-Tri Valley League performer.
Ottawa is an NAIA program. The four-year university competes in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
He has been a three-year letterman in baseball for the Cubs. On the diamond, Manbeck helped lead the Cubs to third place in the 2009 Kansas 2A State Baseball Tournament At the tournament he had a .625 batting average with seven RBI. For the season he hit .524 with 47 RBI.
Manbeck is the son of Scott and Sally Manbeck and plans to major in english.
