COLONY — Crest High’s Lady Lancer softball team held a 1-0 lead after three innings against visiting Southern Lyon County Thursday.
Things got a bit rockier from there.
Southern Lyon County exploded for three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and 10 in the second to cruise to a 17-4 win.
Things didn’t go much better in the finale, as Southern Lyon County broke out to a 5-1 lead before exploding for 11 in the top of the fifth to win, 16-1.
The losses drop Crest to 3-7 with a doubleheader scheduled at home against Oswego Monday.
Brailey Edgerton kept Southern Lyon County in check in the early going, but wound up allowing 10 hits over six innings. She struck out one and walked six.
Kinley Edgerton led off the second with a double, where she scored on a passed ball with two outs.
But that was it for the offense until the sixth inning, when McKenna Powell and Kinley Edgerton led off the frame with singles. Aylee Beckmon followed with an RBI double and Summer Valentine drove in a run with a grounder. Beckmon scored on a passed ball to cap the scoring.
Both Edgerton and Beckmon had two hits. Both also had doubles. Powell doubled, while Kaelin Nilges had a single.
Nilges walked to lead off Crest’s half of the first inning in the nightcap. She stole a base, moved up to third on a grounder, and then stole home. But aside from Nilges and Kinley Edgerton singles, that was it for the Lady Lancer offense.
Kinley Edgerton struck out two and walked six over five innings.
