LE ROY — Not even the flu could slow Southern Coffey County High’s girls, who put forth a dominating effort on both ends of the court effort Tuesday.
The Lady Titans blasted their way to 48 points in the first half, then limited visiting Flinthills High to three points after the break in a 73-14 Lyon County League win.
“The girls did a nice job defensively tonight and shot the ball well from the field,” Southern Coffey County head coach Jeff True said.
The Lady Titans hit 27 of 51 field goals, 53 percent, and drained 3 of 7 three-pointers.
True also was pleased with his contributors up and down the roster.
Two players, Kandace Shields and Ashton Gudenkauf, each got their first starts of the season because two regular starters were sidelined with the flu.
They wound up leading the Lady Titans. Shields had 11 points and Gudenkauf 10. Shields also had seven rebounds. Kaitlin Meyer, meanwhile had six steals. Kristen Garland dished out four assists.
Hope Harsh scored 12 of Flinthills’ 14 points in the contest.
Southern Coffey County now will make up a pair of games postponed from earlier in the season.
On Thursday, the Lady Titans will host Burlingame. They’ll travel to Marais Des Cygnes Valley on Friday.
