PLEASANTON — The Marmaton Valley Junior High girl’s basketball team traveled to Pleasanton on Thursday and left with a 17-12 win for the varsity and a 16-10 loss for the junior varsity.

After scoring just two points in the first half, a strong 15 points second half for the varsity Wildcats boosted them to victory.

Janae Granere and Madison Lawson each had six points, Brynn Newmann had three and Payton Scharff had two.

The junior varsity led Pleasanton 6-4 at the half but a 10-0 third quarter allowed the middle school Blu-Jays to pull away and get the win.

Katie Bigelow had four points and Nasha Gregory, Tayven Sutton and Kaitlyn Drake each had two points.

The win moves the varsity to 3-0 after wins this season over Yates Center and Northeast-Arma.  The junior varsity falls to 1-2 this year.

Marmaton Valley will host Crest today.
