High School Baseball: Marmaton Valley Wildcats
Marmaton Valley got a home split on Monday versus Oswego. The Wildcats lost 7-6 in game one before getting a 16-1 win in game two.
Justice Pugh earned the loss in game one allowing seven runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk with two hit batters.
Isaac Heskett and Trevor Wilson each recorded two hits in the loss.
Offensively, we had several opportunities to score runs and we didnt get it done, head coach Derek Scharff said. Even in the bottom of the seventh, the tying run was on third base and the winning run was on second. We did that several innings this game. We didnt play well at all on both sides of the ball. The only take-away was a great pitching performance by Justice.
Things really bounced back in game two led by an eight-run bottom of the first for Marmaton Valley.
Gage Griffith got the win for the Wildcats going four innings and allowing a run on three hits and two walks.
Brock Hall and Heskett each turned in three hits and three RBIs.
This was one of the most complete games we have played all year, Scharff said. If we can get more consistent throughout the lineup we could be dangerous. We have to show up for seven innings each game and that is something we havent done well this year.
The Wildcats will face Jayhawk-Linn on Thursday.
