Marmaton Valley High’s softball team played on the road Monday and lost. The MVHS baseball team was at home and dropped two games Monday.
Central Heights High’s girls rolled to wins of 15-2 and 10-0 over Marmaton Valley. Both games went just five innings.
“We were unable to connect with the bats and had too many errors,” said Brenda Mills, Wildcat softball coach. “We did make some good plays in the games but not enough to hold Central Heights.”
Maggie Meiwes was the losing pitcher in the first game. She allowed six hits and four walks in the 15-2 loss.
Cheyanne Miller had a single and a triple. Meiwes, Michelle Heskett and Kacie Shadden each had a single.
In the second game, Shelby Norman took the loss as she gave up five hits, walked five and struck out five. Miller and Alysha Westhoff each had a single.
THE BASEBALL team hosted St. Paul, losing 9-4 in the first game and dropping a 2-1 decision in nine innings in the second game.
In the opener, Tanner Lewis pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing five runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out five. Jimmy Frye gave up four runs on four hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Ethan Ericson had three singles for the Wildcats. Lewis and Cole Becker each had two singles. Landon Hammond doubled. Hitting a single each were Nathan Whitcomb, Frye, Logan Booth and Gage Stewart.
Ericson was in a pitching duel with St. Paul’s pitcher in the second game. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the regulation seven innings. St. Paul produced the winning run in the ninth.
Ericson gave up four hits, walked three, hit one batter and struck out 11. Marmaton Valley’s Lewis had a double while Becker and Whitcomb each had a single.
