Forecasts for warmer weather have arrived in the nick of time for spring athletic events at Iola High.
The Iola High tennis team has two events planned this week, a meet in Independence Tuesday evening and a home meet — the school’s only competition in Iola this season — on Thursday against Columbus, Parsons and Independence.
Meanwhile, the Mustang baseball and Fillie softball teams open the 2013 season at home Thursday against Chanute. The first pitches for both teams are at 4:30 at Riverside Park.
The IHS junior varsity baseball team opens play Friday at Chanute.
Action then resumes the week of March 25 — the week after spring break — for baseball, softball, tennis, golf and track.
