COLONY — Crest High’s baseball team ran into a Southern Lyon County buzzsaw Thursday.
The Lancers had few answers at the plate or in the field, dropping both games, 24-1 and 25-2.
The losses put Crest at 6-4 on the season.
Kole Walter, Lane Yocham, Dagon Denny and Koiy Miller shared pitching duties in the opener, striking out three and walking nine over four innings. A pair of fielding errors didn’t help matters, leading to eight unearned runs.
Henry White scored Crest’s only run after being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third. A single from Miller moved White to third, where he scored on a passed ball.
A walk and hit batsman loaded the bases with one out, but a pop-up and strikeout ended the threat.
Miller’s single was Crest’s only hit of the game.
THE LANCERS showed a bit more spunk in the nightcap.
Drake Weir’s two-run home run in the bottom of the first put Crest on the board, after White had singled two batters earlier.
But Crest’s runs dried up from there, and Southern Lyon County had already built an 8-0 lead to start the game.
White added a third-inning double, and Jensen Barker had a leadoff single to lead off the bottom of the fourth, but the Lancer offense stalled from there.
Andrew Donovan, William Disbrow, Dalton Kersley and Weir all saw time on the mound. Weir struck out two batters. The quartet combined to surrender 13 hits. Four Lancer errors led to nine unearned runs.
Crest (6-4) will host Oswego with a Monday doubleheader.
