Forty-six teams from 11 different states made their way to Rochester, Minn., last week to compete in the 2017 USA Softball Girls Fastpitch 16A Northern Nationals. Two of those teams were from Kansas, including the Lawrence Phenix 16A~Bowen.
On the Phenix is Iola pitcher Sierra Snavely, who’s played for the Fillies her past couple years and is in her second year with the Phenix.
The Phenix ended the tournament as one of the top teams there, finishing in seventh place with a 5-2 record in the tournament.
This is coming on the heels of a fifth-place finish in the Tulsa Elite Invitational which hosted 48 different teams.
After this season, Snavely will move on from the Phenix and join the KC Legends 18A team.
