The Marmaton Valley Wildcats remain undefeated in district action after demolishing the Waverly Bulldogs 54-6.

Along with being unblemished in district play, the Wildcats are also undefeated in Three Rivers League play and they hope to keep it that way when they host district and TRL foes Crest and St. Paul in the coming weeks.

Marmaton Valley will first face Crest Friday, and comes into the game with a full head of steam following last Friday’s Waverly blowout.

Senior quarterback Tyler Lord accounted for six of the Wildcats’ seven touchdowns. He completed 12 of 18 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11 yards on five carries.

Senior receiver Todd Stevenson was Lord’s primary target with five receptions for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Junior running back Cooper Scharff caught Lord’s other two TD throws while wrangling three catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns. He also averaged nearly 15 yards per carry for 74 yards rushing.

On defense, Scharff tied sophomore defensive back Ethan Lawson with five tackles with the pair picking up two solo tackles each.

Senior linebacker Brevyn Campbell had a team-leading three solo tackles.

Although Lord did not have a solo tackle Friday, his defensive contribution was no less vital as the senior also picked up a pair of interceptions in the winning effort.

With the win, the Lancers improved to 5-1 and remain undefeated in the Three Rivers League at 3-0. They face Crest (1-5, 1-2), who is on a five-game losing streak after defeating Yates Center 48-28 the opening week. A myriad of injuries has plagued them for the last month.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
