Wildcats go to Cherokee

CHEROKEE — Marmaton Valley High’s girls are seeded fifth for next week’s 2013 Lancer Classic, hosted by Southeast High School.
The Wildcats (4-4) will look for some payback to open tournament play when they take on top-seeded St. Paul at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. St. Paul defeated Marmaton Valley this week in regular season play.
Marmaton Valley then takes on fourth-seeded Columbus at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the second round of Pool A.
Teams in Pool B are Southeast, the host and second overall seed, third-seeded Sunrise Christian Academy and sixth-seeded Oswego.

MARMATON VALLEY’S boys, meanwhile, are the sixth overall seed and will play third-seeded Southeast at 8:30 Tuesday in Pool B. The Wildcats will take on second-seeded Columbus at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Teams in Pool A are top-seeded St. Paul, fourth-seeded Sunrise Christian Academy and fifth-seeded Oswego.
Records from pool play will determine matchups in Friday’s fifth-place, third-place and championship games.
