Yates Center volleyball went 3-3 last weekend and took fourth place at the Humboldt Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats struggled through the early half of the tournament losing their first three matches before closing out the tournament with three wins.
They started off the day with Marmaton Valley, falling 0-2 (20-25, 20-25).
Errors were an issue as the Wildcats had 15 opposed to just 12 kills. Allison Pringle led the way with 4 kills. Taylor Jacobs led the way with 2 aces.
They then went on to Waverly and fell 0-2 (18-25, 11-25).
Pringle once again was the kill leader with 6 and no Wildcats recorded aces.
The struggles carried into their third match versus Humboldt as they fell 0-2 (18-25, 16-25).
Jacobs and Carli Masiarczyk led the Lady Wildcats with 3 kills and three Yates Center players put up an ace.
Yates Center’s luck finally changed when they took on Crest and won 2-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-19).
It was the first match of the day that the Lady Wildcats hit for a positive percentage as Jacobs led the way with 8 kills while Madelynn Collins had 5. Pringle had 2 blocks.
Yates Center kept it coming versus Marais des Cygnes, winning 2-1 (25-20, 25-27, 25-18).
Jacobs had a big match, leading her team with 9 kills and 2 blocks. Pringle had 5 aces with Maria Jimenez following right behind with 4.
Yates Center closed it all out and clinched their fourth- place finish with a 2-1 revenge win over Marmaton Valley (23-25, 25-11, 25-15).
Jimenez and Jacobs led the way with six kills, Pringle had a big match defensively with four blocks.
Then, on Monday, Yates Center hosted Fredonia and Pleasanton and went 1-1.
The Lady Wildcats swept Pleasanton 2-0 (25-9, 25-11).
Collins led the way with six kills with Jacobs adding in seven aces. Pringle recorded three blocks.
Yates Center followed that up with being swept 0-2 by Fredonia (12-25, 11-25).
Taylor led the way with three kills and two aces.
The Lady Wildcats are now 14-9
