Iola High School students will collect old electronics — computers, cell phones, stereos, fans, modems, etc. — from 9 a.m. to noon — as a recycling project at the New Community Building in Riverside Park.
The e-waste project is geared to alleviate the addition of the old electronics, which frequently contain high amounts of lead, mercury or other heavy metals and toxins, to the landfill.
Pickup is available by calling the high school at 365-4715.
No televisions will be accepted. There will be a $5 recycling charge for computer monitors.
