Uriel Bernell Baldwin died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, in Wichita.
She was born April 10, 1922, to Rev. William and Gertrude Wells McNeill in Upper Tract, W.Va.
She married ministerial student William J. Baldwin in 1940 following graduation from Republic High School in Republic. Together, they served EUB and United Methodist pastorates throughout Kansas for 45 years.
Bernell was part of the original nursing team at the world’s first monitored intensive care unit at Bethany Hospital. She continued critical care nursing in Chanute, Topeka, Iola and Halstead hospitals.
Her husband of 62 years preceded her in death, as did her grandson, David Schaeffer.
Bernell is survived by her children, Janice (Don) Schaeffer, Ozawkie, Judy (Ron) Oliver, Wichita, Joyce (Jimmy) Denton, Hot Springs, Ark., and Phil (Peggy) Baldwin, Wichita; and granddaughters Megan (Zach) Jones, Durango, Colo., and Erin Baldwin (fiancé Rob Koehn) Wichita.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton. Interment will be in Restlawn Garden of Memories in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home
