Allen County Community College’s softball team opened the MidWest Classic in Oklahoma with a 7-1 win over North Dakota State College Saturday. Then they lost in two shutouts.
But the Red Devils turned things around on Sunday with three consecutive victories. They finished 4-2 in Classic play to push their overall record to 9-8.
Today, the Red Devils host Fort Scott Community College in Jayhawk Eastern Division play. Allen County is 0-2 in conference play.
Sophomore Jenna Sigg had four home runs over the weekend to help power the Red Devils. She had 12 hits in the six games.
Kylie Taylor had a three-run triple to highlight a five-run first inning against North Dakota State Saturday. Sigg’s two-run home run came in the sixth inning.
Taylor was 3-for-4 with two singles and a triple while Sigg also had a single. Kelsey Walters hit a single and a double and Callie Umholtz had two singles.
Kayla Johnston doubled and Lenzie Boring had a single.
Boring was the winning pitcher as she gave up two hits and walked four. Boring struck out 16 batters.
Ellsworth College beat ACCC 8-0 in five innings. Alex Hill took the pitching loss, giving up nine hits, walking one and striking out three. Taylor and Denise Swanson each had a single for ACCC.
