A blistering start from Kansas City Kansas put Allen Community College behind the 8-ball Saturday.

The Red Devils fell behind 31-12 before finding their stride late in the half.

Allen got to within five points in the waning moments before intermission, before KCK responded with another big run.

The Blue Devils took  a 46-37 halftime lead and never looked back, defeating the Red Devils 104-82.

Allen’s David Teele helped keep things close after ACC’s slow start. He wound up hitting six 3-pointers on the way to 27 points.

Grayson Ryan came off the bench to score 16, including a 3-pointer and field goal as part of Allen’s 25-11 run late in the first half to pull Allen to within 42-37.

But Kansas City ended the half with four straight points, and then opened the second half with a 9-1 run to make it 55-40.

Allen was unable to get within double digits from there.

Dante Jackson added 20 points and Killian Spellman scored 12 for Allen.

Teele also had seven rebounds and six assists.

Five Blue Devils reached double figures, led by BJ Stewart’s 18.

Allen (10-17) travels to Highland Wednesday and Fort Scott Saturday. The Red Devils will wrap up the regular season at home Feb. 28 against Labette.
