N.H. Gaede has sold the Bowling Palace to the Iola Finance Co. which will continue its operation. Ted Seymour will continue to manage the popular recreation center. Gaede purchased the business in 1950. He said he plans to devote more of his time to farming and fishing, especially fishing.

On May 1, the Kansas National Guard unit at Iola will be reorganized as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 195th Engineer Group (Heavy Construction.) At present the unit’s affiliation is with the Field Artillery.

Delbert Miller, who has been associated for the past five years with Waldo Bain in the Miller and Bain Sheet Metal Co., 411 N. Kentucky, is opening a new business, the Miller Sheet Metal Co., 213 N. Jefferson. Bain will continue at the same address. Miller will occupy the rooms formerly used by the Echo Cafe and will specialize in sheet metal work, air conditioning and heating.
