Dale and Maria Erb of LaHarpe will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Nov. 28.
They were married Nov. 28, 1975 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Piqua, Kan.
The Erbs have two daughters, Virginia Marker, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and her son, Kyle Marker, age 12, and Jennifer Hummel and her husband, Bob, Olathe.
Over the years Dale has held several jobs including at Klein Tool in Moran, PC Boards in Chanute and Precision International in Iola. He also has served as a volunteer firefighter in LaHarpe.
Maria worked at Arkhaven nursing home and as a receptionist for a physician’s office before serving most recently as the emergency room admissions clerk for Allen County Regional Hospital. She is now retired.
According to family lore, Dale and Maria were married the day after Thanksgiving because extended family would be in town.
“They are a great example of what love should look like,” said daughter Jennifer.
