COLONY Several topics were discussed at length at the Jan. 17 Crest Education Foundation meeting.
The Foundations strategic plan took center stage. Board members agreed to report back at their Feb. 7 meeting with both short- and long-term goals to benefit both Crest school staff and students.
Members hope to bring Lancer decals back to the community in February. They first were made available at the Colony Day celebration. Also in the works are the Youve Been Flocked fundraiser in March and the second annual co-ed softball tournament in late April.
Candace Powell reported on the Read 2 Lead Christmas book drive. Equipped with donations from the school, GSSB Colony Branch and LNB-Kincaid, members agreed to purchase 191 books for the Crest Library.
Laura Schmidt gave an update on the Auburn Pharmacy Caps to Cash program. Four collection boxes have been set up, at GSSB-Colony, Hi Point Cafe and Convenience in Colony, Kincaid City Hall and Crickets Bar & Grill in Kincaid.
Residents who have Auburn Pharmacy prescriptions can return the caps to one of the depositories. The pharmacy will reimburse the Foundation at 25 cents per cap.
Foundation officers Candace Powell, Chrissy Powell, Laura Schmidt and Casey Cook were led the meeting.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Colony City Hall Community Room. The public is invited.
