Southwind Extension District is offering opportunities for food service managers, workers, volunteers, and individuals to learn more about food safety and how to prevent foodborne illness.
A ServSafe food handlers class is Sept. 9 in Iola. Paid registration of $15 per person is due Sept. 3.
The three-hour class is geared for anyone who cooks and/or handles food served outside their home kitchen. Workers in restaurants, nursing homes or hospitals, day care, schools, concessions stands, church and community dinner cooks and servers are encouraged to attend.
Those who complete the course will receive a certificate.
A ServSafe managers certification class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17 in Iola. Registration costs $120 per person, and includes the ServSafe managers certification exam. Registration is due Sept. 3.
The class is appropriate for food service managers in restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes and schools.
