Iola Public Library kicks off summer with a variety of programs for adults.

First up is the Intrepid Readers book discussion, at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Rather than discuss one book, this month attendees will discuss favorites among their recent reads outside of the program, share reviews and comments on new and forthcoming titles, and take a look back at some worthy of new attention.

Damaris Kunkler has been writing poems and lyrics since she was 8, playing the guitar since she was 20, and writing songs for 27 years. She recently won the Lawrence Kansas Songwriter Showcase and is performing at the Kansas State Fair 2019. She recently released her first album, “Come Sit By My Fire.” Damaris tells her story and maybe even sings a bit at “Come Sit by my Fire” at 7 p.m. Monday, June 10.
