MORAN The community is invited to an informational meeting tonight about the Moran Ruritan Club.
Mark Warren, a district governor, said the purpose is to encourage folks from the community to join the civic service organization, and to dispel any myths.
A 6 oclock meal will precede the informational meeting at 7, in the Marmaton Valley High School commons area.
The Moran Ruritan Club has 14 members, but members are eager to see more participation, particularly among younger residents.
The club has done a number of projects in Moran recently, from placing flags and flag holders at the Moran Cemetery, building a fence around Moran Manor, cutting wood for a local family in need, hosting an ice cream social for senior citizens, assisting with a health fair at school enrollment and buying books for the Moran Public Library.
Ruritan also sponsors an annual Build Your Dollars Scholarship campaign.
The Moran chapter is the second oldest Ruritan club in the state, behind Bronson.
Moran Ruritan normally meets at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Moran Senior/Community Center.
