EL DORADO — Three Marmaton Valley High School students are headed to a national forensics tournament this summer.

The duo of Rachel Shaffer and Allison Heim placed third in duo interpretation at a National Catholic Forensics League Qualifier Saturday at El Dorado High School.

In so doing, the pair will advance to the national tournament Memorial Day weekend in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Also qualifying was Autumn Simpson, who finished sixth in oracle declamation.

Marmaton Valley also had two alternate qualifiers.

Austin Gardner finished eighth in extemporaneous speaking, as did Tanesha Walls in oratorical declamation.

In an effort to raise money for the trip to Milwaukee, the forensics team will host its second annual Family Feud Night April 27 at the high school. Entry costs are $25 per team. Five members per team is recommended, but not required.

Registration is due April 18.

A pulled pork dinner will begin at 4 p.m., with games starting at 5 o’clock.
