Flo Haynes presented a timely lesson on the Stations of the Cross at the March 28 Iola United Methodist Women meeting.
The Hayneses have visited many cathedrals during their travels. She shared pictures and explanations of the 14 stations portrayed in different ways in the cathedrals. Constantine became a Christian in 312, making it possible to mark and maintain the Stations of the Cross throughout the Roman Empire.
Haynes gave handouts to explain the stations.
Pastor Jocelyn Tupper and Linda Johnson shared books from the reading program: All The Colors We Are, a childrens book; Do All Lives Matter? and We Are All Fast-Food Workers.
Beverly Franklin also shared a book, Out of the Shadow, by Darol Rodrock, who has Iola roots.
Collene Ellis, Joann Maxwell and Gwen Tefft served refreshments.
Donna Grigsby told of several girls from Bridgewater, Va., who help provide a clothes closet for the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg, Va.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Calvary United Methodist Church. Alice Hood will give the program; Shirley Robertson, Flo Haynes and Beverly Franklin will be hostesses.
