Cara Barkdoll, Allen County’s register of deeds for the past 12 years, filed for re-election Friday.

Barkdoll is responsible for overseeing records of all real estate transactions in the county, as well as keeping and maintaining other county records.

She is seeking her fourth term.

Barkdoll began working in the office as a clerk in January 1997 under her predecessor, Jacqueline Webb. She became deputy register of deeds in 1998, then appointed to replace Webb, who retired at the end of 1999.

Barkdoll, a Republican, successfully ran for election in 2000, 2004 and 2008.

Residents have until June 10 to file for county offices.
