Check your spurs at the door Sunday when the Sons of the Pioneers perform at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
Tickets for the legendary country and western music group are still available for the 3 p.m. concert.
Over their more than 75 years together the Pioneers have landed in numerous halls of fame, including those of country music, western music, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Grammy Hall of Fame, Texas Swing Hall of Fame and the Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Sons also have received the Golden Boot Award for their contributions to the genre of Western television and movies and the Smithsonian Institute’s “National Treasure” designation for their contribution to the arts and culture of North America.
The Sons of the Pioneers identify with the American West, its natural beauty and the life of the cowboy. Songs such as “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” “Cool Water” and “Tall Timber” evoke images of the wild west in its days of lore.
They have appeared in more than 90 movies, numerous radio shows, major label recording projects and television appearances.
The low ticket prices are a result of a gift by the Daniels Estate to the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
Advanced ticket prices are $17 for orchestra seating and $15 for balcony. Tickets at the door sell for $20 and $18, respectively. If tickets remain on Sunday, those for the back two balcony rows will sell for $3 apiece.
