Garrett Cleaver, wanted on manslaughter charges stemming from a fatal traffic accident in October in Neosho County, has been caught and arrested in rural Missouri.
KOAM-TV of Pittsburg reported that Cleaver, 25, was arrested in Jasper County, Mo., after he led authorities on a chase. He abandoned the truck he was driving and officers brought in a K-9 unit and helicopter to continue the search.
Cleaver was found and arrested just before 5 p.m. Thursday.
Allen County officers attempted to arrest Cleaver at a residence along South Kentucky Street in Iola April 5 before he fled, leading officers on a high-speed chase throughout rural parts of the county before the chase was called off by Allen County Sheriff Tom Williams.
Cleaver’s manslaughter charge stems from an Oct. 9 accident in which he allegedly crossed the center line in his pickup and collided head-on with a car driven by Joseph Bagnato of Basking Ridge, N.J.
Bagnato died of his injuries.
