Julie Patchouli and Bruce Hecksel will bring Terra Guitarra — “the landscape of guitar” — to the Creitz Recital Hall at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center Thursday.
Terra Guitarra is considered one of the top nuevo-flamenco groups in the world.
The dynamic duo are multi-disciplinary, multi-instrumentalists. An extraordinary bond is immediately apparent as two guitars merge into one acoustic wall of sound and their innovative, percussive flat-picking and hybrid fingerstyle techniques leave even astute listeners wondering where the drummer is.
In addition to their acclaimed musical style, Patchouli and Hecksel have created over 100 different vibrant paintings of landscapes composed of guitar shapes.
Their works are displayed at the Mary L. Martin Art Gallery up until Thursday’s performance.
Doors open for the 7 p.m. show at 5:30. (Enter through the alley door.) An artist’s reception starts at 6 o’clock.
Adult tickets sell for $12; students for $6.
