Maggie Barnett, left, and Donna Culver were among the volunteers who placed 160 new metal markers alongside veterans’ graves at Highland Cemetery, following a series of fundraisers spearheaded by the LaHarpe Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and LaHarpe American Legion posts. Barnett started placing the markers over the weekend; the rest were in place by the end of Monday. The markers — which denote the branch of service or specific conflict in which a veteran served, such as the Army marker at lower left — also hold flags, as illustrated at lower right.
