Iola firefighters will continue their annual Labor Day weekend tradition Saturday by collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Firefighters will be stationed along Madison Avenue in Iola’s downtown business district from 8 a.m. to noon with boots in hand as part of the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Tele-thon.
In addition, firefighters will be at Pizza Hut during lunch Sunday to support MDA, with 20 percent of the proceeds collected by the restaurant going to the fundraiser.
“We’ll have a boot there, too, for people who want to donate,” said firefighter Eric B’Hymer, coordinating this year’s activities.
