The lack of rainfall and soaring temperatures prompted Allen County commissioners to extend a burn ban through midnight Wednesday night, as fire danger remains elevated across the county.
Allen County Emergency Management Director Jason Trego told commissioners Tuesday morning that the previous burn ban expired at 11:59 p.m. Monday. Forecast temperatures and heat indexes prompted him to recommend keeping the restriction in place.
“The max heat index for today is 106. Heat index for tomorrow is 105,” Trego said.
