LAHARPE — With six candidates seeking three seats, the LaHarpe City Council race is one of the most hotly contested races for the upcoming Nov. 4 general election.
LaHarpe PRIDE is hosting a candidate forum at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall for incumbents Cynthia Karr, Ronald Knavel Sr. and Sharlyn Thompson and challengers Harry Lee Jr., Kendra Michael and Craig Trester.
Also to be discussed is a proposed 1.5% sales tax, which would be an extension of a 1% sales tax that expired this year, to fund street repairs and other capital improvement projects.
