HUMBOLDT — A cooler breakdown forced Our Market owners to close the Humboldt grocery store and butcher shop Sunday.

Owner Scotty Welch said the coolers could not be immediately repaired, prompting him to close the store until Monday.

Much of the store’s refrigerated product had to be disposed of when the problem became evident.

The store was reopened Monday once the units were repaired.

“This won’t take us out of the game,” Welch said, adding the coolers will be restocked. “That’s why we have insurance.”

Welch and wife Amy opened the grocery store, formerly Moon’s Market, in May.

The new high-efficiency cooler system was paid for in part with an $80,000 loan provided to the store by Allen County commissioners, with the provision the loan would be forgiven through sales tax revenues.
