MORAN — Moran will be considered “The Heart of America” Saturday and Sunday for the 64th annual Moran Day celebration.
The festivities kick off at 7 a.m. Saturday with the inaugural Marmaton Valley High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America fun run/walk. Starting at Moran City Park, participants may walk 1 or 2 miles or run 5 kilometers. There is no registration  necessary.
Merchants will set up at the park at 9 a.m. A parade, featuring grand marshals Jerry and Kathy Ward, kicks off at 11, followed immediately by a tractor pull at the park. Inflatables and pony rides set up at noon, as do horse games at the park. A pedal pull runs from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by a merchants drawing at 3. DJ Scott Stewart will spin tunes throughout the afternoon.
A free bean feed, sponsored by Emprise Bank and Ferrelgas, will be served at 4 p.m., with corn bread for sale by FCCLA members. A miniature horse pull wraps up the afternoon’s activities at 5 p.m.

A PAIR OF sporting events wrap up the annual festival.
A co-ed softball tournament begins at dusk Saturday and promises to run most of the overnight hours. And the first-ever Moran Day Kickball Tournament ensues at 2 p.m. Sunday at the park.
The kickball tournament is sponsored by the MVHS cheerleading team. Teams can register for $25.
