MORAN — Non-teaching staff, including bus drivers and administrators, in the Marmaton Valley school district can expect a raise, approved by USD 256 board members at their meeting Monday evening.
Classified staff will receive a raise of 35 cents per hour. That includes non-teaching positions including custodians, para-professionals, secretaries and cooks.
Bus drivers will receive an additional $40 per month to their base pay.
Administrators, including the board clerk, will receive a 3 percent raise.
The increases will be retroactive to the start of the 2018-19 school year.
The board also adjusted its starting salaries for classified and substitute staff. Those starting salaries will be set at $10 per hour. Any employee whose salary currently is below that rate will be raised to $10 per hour. The new rate takes effect Oct. 11.
In other business, the board approved the purchase of a van from the state bid list, unless a local bid is lower. They also approved Mark Spillman to serve as voting delegate at the annual Kansas Association of School Boards Conference, and accepted the resignation of Roger Houk as custodian.
