HUMBOLDT — The revival of Humboldt’s downtown shopping district will take another step forward Saturday with the grand opening of jae & co., a store featuring a wide variety of new clothing for women, misses and juniors. The store is at 824 Bridge St., on the north side of the square.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which will be the store’s normal Saturday hours. The shop also will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday each week.

Jeanie Newman owns the store with daughter Andrea Butcher.

The “jae” logo refers to three generations: Jeanie, Andrea and her daughter, Emmie, age 1.

Work to prep the shop began in mid-January with Jeanie taking full advantage of skills honed by husband Craig Newman, who produces furniture and other high-end projects at Bison Woodworking on Humboldt’s north edge. Andrea’s husband, Chase, also had a role.
