A new administrator has joined the Moran Manor staff this week. Ashley Vogel started her position Tuesday.
Vogel, a 2009 Kansas State University graduate, studied gerontology and family studies in human services.
Vogel said there was a reason for her interest in pursuing this career path.
“My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and dementia and when I was leaving high school she passed away,” Vogel said. “My aunt also was diagnosed with early onset dementia, so I wanted to make a difference in older adults’ lives.”
Although she has worked in different assisted living locations, the Stillwell native said this is her first administrative role.
“I wanted more experience under my belt before I jumped into an administrative position,” Vogel said.
Before stepping into her current position Vogel went through Administrator-in-Training at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan. She is also a CNA and CMA certified.
Greta Wakefield, Vogel’s predecessor, is now working in Paola.
Vogel will work Monday through Friday but stressed that she is always available.
“I want to support the residents, family and the staff as much as possible,” Vogel said.
On July 3, Moran Manor will host a meet-and -greet with Vogel along with the annual community wide 4th of July celebration. The meet-and-greet starts at 6 p.m.
