Alvin Dean Wagner, age 66, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Alvin was born March 30, 1959, at Allen County Hospital in Iola. He grew up on his family farm in Moran, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.
He graduated from Marmaton Valley High School and went on to attend Allen County Community College. On May 1, 1980, Alvin married Janie Gillam, and they were blessed with three daughters. The couple later divorced. In September of 1994, Alvin married Judith Joyce; they later divorced.
An avid reader and lifelong sports enthusiast, Alvin was always up for an adventure and truly loved life. He never knew a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome wherever he went.
Alvin was a man of deep faith who walked by example. He was a devoted and loving father who taught his children the importance of working hard and playing hard, and he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Audrey Wagner; his father, J.V. Wagner; his siblings, Marsha Girard, Nancy Barnes, David Wagner and Leslie Wagner; his daughters, Shana Bennett, Angelique Johns and Rachel Wagner; and his grandchildren, Bradlee Bennett, Contessa Johns and Colton Eads.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Alvin will be remembered for his faith, his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.
