Bernice Breiner, 96, Erie, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Doniphon, Mo., a daughter of Jess and Estille Jane (Cook) Epperson. She was raised in Doniphon and Macon, Mo., and later moved to Fort Madison, Iowa, as an adult. She moved to Parsons in 1965 and to Chanute in 1975. She moved to Erie in 2000, where she was currently living.
On July 8, 1967 she was united in marriage to LeRoy “Budd” Breiner in Hamilton, Ill. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2013.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Erie and the George L. Hendricks Post 102, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed needlework, cooking and canning.
Survivors include one son and daughter in-law, Darryl and Carolyn McKisson, Leasburg, Mo.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Erie, the Rev. Danny Flippo officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Chanute. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O.
