Bradley Jay Cook, 56, rural Iola, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at his home.

Brad was born Feb. 8, 1960, in Yates Center. He grew up in Bronson and Gas. On March 10, 1979, Brad married Susan E. Tanner in Iola. They made their home in Gas before moving north of Iola. He has worked in the oil fields since he was 16. He was part owner of M.A.E. Resources, Inc., in Colony.

Brad enjoyed his grandkids and drag racing. He was a member of the Iola Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of almost 37 years, Susan Cook; three children, Jeremy Cook and wife Casey, Moran, Billy Cook and wife Tava, Blue Springs, Mo., and FayAnna Hastings and husband Jared, Iwakuni, Japan; his mother, Elsie Weast, Iola; two brothers, Wesley Cook and wife Donna, Lawrence, and Larry Wayne Weast, Iola; and and grandchildren, Jadrian, Quinlan and Milo Hastings, Clara Cook, Athena and Augustus Cook and Ryker and Ramsey Tanner. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence “Larry” Weast.

 

Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. Burial will follow in Gas City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Wings Of Warriors Cancer Foundation or the American Red Cross and may be left with the funeral home.
