Bruce E. Curry, 89, of Kincaid died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Anderson County Hospital.
He was born Oct. 15, 1920, in Kincaid, the son of Bass and Grace (Mathis) Curry. He graduated from Kincaid High School and Friends University with a bachelor of arts degree in social science.
He was married to Joyce Davis and she and their daughter, Ruth, preceded him in death in 1951 as the result of an automobile accident. On July 5, 1953, he married Lila Bowen. They lived near Kincaid since 1964.
He was a math and science teacher and taught in Nevada, Mo., Blue Mound and at Jayhawk-Linn. Besides teaching, he also farmed on the family farm. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Martha Beckham, Leavenworth, and Beverly Karen Curry and Barbara Connie Curry, both of the home; a nephew, Dennis Curry, Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandchildren, Stacey and Shaun; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Eugene, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kincaid-Selma United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Sheehan will officiate. Burial will be in Kincaid Cemetery.
