Cindy Sereno, 83, of Walnut Creek, Calif., formerly of Overland Park, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021. She was born March 30, 1937, in Oklahoma City and later moved to Iola, where she attended junior high and high school.
As a child, Cindy’s amazing talent in music was nourished by her loving parents, Paul and Dutchie Cramm. Cindy played the violin and attended music camp at the University of Kansas, eventually leading her to return to the university to major in music. A lifelong Jayhawk, Cindy lived in Southern California before making Overland Park her home for over 40 years. Cindy sang in the choir at the Village Presbyterian Church and passed on her love of music to her son, who played piano, drums, and sang in church and school choirs. Cindy worked for and retired from Black & Veatch, where she worked on engineering specifications, leading her daughter to become an engineer. In 2013, Cindy moved to California to enjoy the weather and to be close to her daughter.
Cindy had a passion for animals. From an early age, she loved and cared for many dogs and cats, and taught her children the kindness and compassion to take care of the furry family members. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, providing never- ending support and love to her family.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dutchie Cramm; and sister, Sophia. She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Sereno (Tim Banyai); her son, Frank Sereno (Kelli Bailey); and her dog, Maxi.
